The Mobile Monastery Project
Monks from the Blue Cliff Monastery and Plum Village embarked on a journey to walk the Appalachian Trail from upper New York state to Washington, DC.
This pilgrimage entailed trekking from village to village through New Jersey to Pennsylvania to Delaware to Maryland. Over the course of 7 weeks, lay people joined in. On the weekends, the monks held mindfulness retreats inviting local people to participate in meditations and talks.
This pilgrimage culminated in Washington, DC. on Memorial Day weekend with a peace walk and meditation at the National Mall.

The grieving families of Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, and John Crawford, III came together as a group for the first time, leading the march.
